Biography

Amy Phillips grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI where, inspired by Liza Minnelli in “Arthur,” she honed her skills impersonating larger-than-life divas with millionaire aspirations. It was serendipitous, to say the least – and the start of something beautiful, because Amy realized she loved making people laugh.

With entrepreneurial aspirations of her own Amy started performing comedy in her childhood friend’s basement for the steep fee of 10 cents. She funneled all those coins into a costume savings fund for her future career impersonating celebrities with distinctive personalities, such as Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ellen DeGeneres, Martha Stewart, Kelly Ripa, and more. Through writing and performing comedy that mingled the lavish, exuberant celebrity lifestyles with real world experiences, Amy produced such parodies as taking “Gwyneth” shopping at Walmart.

Amy continues to mix business with pleasure, by combining her love of reality TV (and its over-the-top drama queens) with her love of comedic parodies. As the ultimate excuse to partake in her favorite guilty pleasure, Amy famously performs impersonations of ‘Bravolebrities,’ from stylist Rachel Zoe, to various ‘Real Housewives’.

Beginning with hours of “research,” Amy envisions, writes, directs, and self-produces her character parody videos of the ‘Real Housewives’ and other celebrities.

Amy’s ‘Real Housewives’ impersonations developed a fan following through her YouTube Channel, Meet Amy Phillips, then caught the attention of Bravo and Andy Cohen (plus several Real Housewives themselves!). As a result Amy has been regularly featured on Bravo’s late night talk show, ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ where she has also done live appearances (in character), alongside the real Real Housewives. As a personal friend of the WWHL clubhouse Amy has an open tab for life.

Of course, Amy’s resume isn’t all faux diamonds and big, blonde wigs! She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and expanded her study of improv at The Second City Detroit, iO Chicago, and The Annoyance Theater. Amy also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Broadcast Communications from Wayne State University, which she channeled into an original comedy routine, called ‘The Shy Reporter,’ which is written and self-produced by Amy and featured on her YouTube channel. As ‘The Shy Reporter’ Amy has interviewed celebrities such as Sarah Silverman.

Amy has created and performed several other original characters.

You can catch Amy out of character hobnobbing around LA, gathering material for future personas, and performing with the improv group “Mama’s Boy” at venues such as Second City Hollywood and iO West.

Amy has also appeared in scripted television on TBS’s “Cougar Town” and was a series regular on VH1’s “Stevie TV.” She recently shot a sketch comedy competition pilot for Fox called “The Biggest Laugh”.

Amy’s diverse and well-rounded skill set also includes an impressive collection of voiceover work. Her voice has been featured in commercials for Starbucks, Pier One Imports, Ford, and several other major corporate entities. Of course, if you want proof that Amy is a master of voiceover artistry, just check out her celebrity impersonation reels on her YouTube channel as well as the “Watch What Happens Live YouTube Channel!

You can hear Amy recap and dish about the Real Housewives and everything Bravo TV on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM channel “Radio Andy”. Amy’s show, “Reality Checked” is Tuesday and Thursday mornings on Channel 102.
